Look at your DSP in a different way

Look at your DSP in a different way

Today’s project is designed to have you look at your DSP in a different way.  Instead of having only 2 full 12″ x 12″ sheets to work with, you’ll learn how to get at least 14 DSP corners to add to your cards!  If you’re like me, you always want to get the most out of all your beautiful Designer Series Paper, right?  I found this technique posted by Chris Smith at “From My Inkpad” so thought I’d give it a try.  It’s amazingly easy and, yes, if you cut as she suggests, you can get at least 14 pieces to use on the corners like my sample and still have some left for other designs!

Detailed measurements and instructions:

  1. Cut Whisper White Cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2” – Fold in 1/2 to create standard card size of 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″.
  2. Cut Night of Navy Cardstock at 5″ x 3-3/4″.
  3. Cut Whisper White Cardstock at 4-7/8″ x 3-5/8″. Use Night of Navy Classic Ink to stamp greeting near the bottom right-hand corner.
  4. Cut the DSP using the Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer. Cut a 3/4″ frame from a 12″ x 12″ sheet. Continue cutting 3/4″ frames until the side measures less than 5-1/2″.
  5. You can cut 2 corner shapes from each 3/4″ frame. Use Liquid Glue to attach to the card base according to the design on the DSP.
  6. Use Snail Adhesive to attach the Night of Navy layer as shown.
  7. Use Snail Adhesive to attach the Whisper White layer with the greeting as shown.
  8. Stamp the butterflies with Memento Black ink. Colour with Night of Navy Light Blend or use the solid butterfly wings stamp with Night of Navy Ink. Apply clear Wink of Stella over the wings.  Punch out the butterflies and attach to the card front with Liquid Glue.
  9. Use the Night of Navy Light Blend to colour the pearls. Use the Take Your Pick tool to place the coloured pearls on the card front.

Santa’s Wish List

Santa’s Wish List

Wouldn’t it be great to be on Santa’s Wish List?  Have you been especially good this year?  I’m sure you have so it would be great for you to receive a card like this one in your mailbox!  Notice that the greeting on the front indicates “more to come” by ending with the small dots so, for the inside layer, I used the stamp that says “….and more!”

Detailed instructions:

  1. Cut Thick Whisper White Cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2” – Fold in 1/2 to create standard card size of 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″.
  2. Cut Whisper White Cardstock at 5-1/4″ x 4″.
    1. Use the Softly Falling Impressions Folder with the Big Shot to create snow at the top of the layer.
    2. Attach to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  3. Cut a strip of Joyous Noel DSP at 4-1/4″ x 1-7/16″.
    1. Use the Triple Banner Punch to create a flagged end.
    2. Use Snail Adhesive to attach to the Whisper White embossed layer.
  4. Use largest square scallop framelit with the Big Shot to cut out a Basic Black square.
  5. Cut a square of Whisper White Cardstock at 2-1/2″
    1. Use Tuxedo Memento Black Ink to stamp greeting near the top
    2. Use Softly Falling impression folder with the Big Shot to create snowflakes near the top.
  6. Use Tuxedo Memento Black Ink to stamp Santa on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock.
    1. Use Santa framelit from the Santa’s Signpost Framelits Dies with the Big Shot to cut out the stamped Santa.
    2. Use Stampin’ Blends to colour Santa.
