Lucky to Know You on St. Patrick’s Day!

St. Patrick's Day Card

Even though St. Patrick’s Day has come & gone for this year, it’s always nice to be able to send a card saying it’s “lucky to know you” any time of the year! Did you know that you can make a “shamrock” card using heart punches? Yes, you can and you don’t even need a “shamrock” punch!

Let me tell you how…

I started by picking a green colour that I liked. Stampin’ Up! has so many greens to pick from! I chose Granny Apple Green (146990) and Shaded Spruce Cardstock (146981) for the greens on this card. After I cut Basic White Cardstock (159276) at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, it was scored & folded at 4-1/4″. This makes the card base. A layer of Granny Apple Green was cut @ 5-1/4″ x 4″ and attached to the card base. Any adhesive will work for this so choose your favourite one. A layer of Basic Black Cardstock (121045), cut at 5″ x 3-3/4″, for the next layer really makes colours “pop” off the page!

Now for the next green layer…

Shaded Spruce Cardstock (146981) cut at 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″. The texture was added by using the Tasteful Textures Embossing Folder (152718) and the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (149653). Now it was ready to be attached over the black layer.

Making the Shamrock (4 Leaf Clover)…

Cut a strip of Granny Apple Green Cardstock at 6″ x 2-1/4″. This size makes for the least amount of waste when you punch 3 hearts with the Scallop Heart Punch from the Heart Punch Pack (151292). Use the Plain Heart Punch from that pack to cut 3 hearts from a green sheet in the Brights Designer Series Paper 6″x6″ (152487). Attach the plain hearts to the scallop hearts. Use Stampin’ Seal to attach 2 completed hearts to the Shaded Spruce layer. Use Stampin Dimensionals to attach the 3rd heart.

This greeting is a must…

Use Shaded Spruce Classic Ink (147088) to stamp the greeting from Oval Occasions Stamp Set (154477) on Basic White Cardstock (159276). A bit more colour was added using the Shaded Spruce Blends (154903) on some of the open images. Punch the greeting out with the scallop oval from the Oval Double Punch (154242) and attach to the Shaded Spruce layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Embellishments and ribbon…

For some shine, you can embellish with Gilded Gems (152478). Attach the stem of the shamrock made using the Curvy Dies (154319). Tie a bow with Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon (146912) attach with a Mini Glue Dot. Your card is ready to send making someone happy!

A few years ago I made this shadow box insert. Notice the tiny hearts used to make the shamrock!
