Every once in awhile I like to take a break from making cards and see what else I can create with paper and a few embellishments – like this Paper Snowflake Ornament! Recently a fellow crafter shared this design and showed how easy it is to make so, of course, I had to give it a try!
For this one, I cut 6 pcs of Heartwarming Hugs DSP @ 4″ x 4″ and I was on my way! These pieces will form the main basis of the ornament.
For the “top” and “bottom”, I cut Whisper White card stock at 1-7/8″ x 1-7/8″. I used coordinating ink to stamp the greeting and snowflakes.
The next step was to fold the 6 squares as follows:
– with wrong sides together, fold in half, score, turn 90 degrees
– with wrong sides together, fold in half, score
– with right sides together, fold corner to corner, score
– open with right sides out and poke up on the corner-to-corner fold, score on all folds
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach all 6 squares together with the closed point at the top. As each square is glued, reinforce with the Bone Folder. Open the “star” to make sure nothing is sticking where it shouldn’t be!
Cut a 16″ length of Braided Linen Trim, fold it in half, thread the fold through the centre of a Jingle Bell. Pull up about 2″ & tie a knot so the bell won’t come off.
With the open end of the “star” at the top, apply Stampin’ Seal from the centre of the square to the open end point. Lay one side of the Braided Line Trim on the Stampin’ Seal. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach the stamped Whisper White square over the trim. Repeat with the other side of the trim and the blank Whisper White square on the other side of the ornament.
To close the Star Ornament, slide the bell down the trim. To open the Star Ornament, slide the bell up the trim and “flip” the ornament around and slide the bell down the trim to hold it open and hang it up to display!
