Shutter Fold Card with Belly Band Shows a Hidden Greeting

Fun fold cards are so much fun to make!!

I love “fun fold” cards so when I saw this one, I knew I was going to have to make one and keep the plans so I could share it with my Monthly Card Club ladies!! These are the pictures – supplies & instructions are below.

Supplies used:

  • Stamps:
    • Happy Thoughts Stamp Set [154507]
  • Ink:
    • Mint Macaron Classic Ink [147106]
  • Paper, including cutting instructions:
    • Mint Macaron Cardstock [138337]
      • 1 @ 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, score @ 2-1/8″ from either end to form a gate fold
      • 1 @ 4″ wide, score @ 1/2″, cut 2 @ 3-1/2″ – shutters
      • scrap to cut scallop circle frame
    • Basic White Cardstock [159276]
      • 2 @ 5-3/8″ x 2″
      • 1 @ 5-1/2″ x 3″
      • scrap to cut circle for greeting
    • Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper [155499]
      • 2 @ 5-1/4″ x 1-7/8″
      • 1 @ 5-3/8″ x 2-7/8″
      • 1 @ 9″ x 1-1/2″ for belly band
  • Accessories:
    • Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials [155567]
    • Stitched So Sweetly Dies [151690]

Instructions:

  • Fold 1 side of the base on the score line, burnish – fold 2nd side to meet in the middle without an overlap
  • Attach 2-7/8″ DSP to 3″ Basic White Cardstock.
  • Use dies or punch to cut 2-1/4″ (approx) circle from the centre of the DSP/cardstock layer. This is where the shutter will open and your greeting will peek out. Attach the frame around the circle opening
  • Place Stampin’ Dimensionals on the 4 corners, remove the protective layer from the bottom 2 ONLY and attach in the centre of the card base
  • For the shutters:
    • with 3-1/2″ side at the top of the paper trimmer, use a pencil to draw a light line at 1-3/4″
    • with 4″ side at the top of the paper trimmer, use a pencil to draw a light line at 2″
    • on the side without the score line, use paper trimmer or paper snips to cut from the bottom corners to the centre where the 2 pencils line cross
    • add Tear & Tape to the narrow edge created by the score line
    • slide one piece from each side & centre to form the shutter
    • peel off protective layer from the Tear & Tape & attach carefully to the “wings” of the card base
  • Stamp the greeting on Basic White cardstock – use die or punch to cut out 2″ circle – use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach to the card base behind the shutter opening
  • Stamp the greeting for the belly band on die cut Basic White cut with Stitched So Sweetly Dies
  • Fold the 9″ x 1-1/2″ DSP around the card – use Tear & Tape on the ends – attach the greeting over the ends
  • Embellish with Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials
