Squares in Layers Make an Easy Card

Have you ever wondered what to do with all those little pieces of DSP (Designer Series Paper) that you always have left in the package? Today I’m going to share how I used Squares in Layers to Make an Easy Card!

Let’s get started…

Start with your card base. Cut 1 piece of Thick Basic White Cardstock (159229) 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score @ 4-1/4″, fold and burnish with Bone Folder. It’s time for the next layer. Cut 1 piece of Basic Black Cardstock (121045) @ 5-1/4″ x 4″. Attach to the card base with your choice of adhesive. I use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach mine.

Now we’re on to the detailed layer…

You can now cut 1 piece of Basic White Cardstock (159276) @ 5″ x 3-3/4″. Grab your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and the Greenery embossing folder (152716). Now use them to add detail to the Basic White Cardstock. Use Memento Black Ink (132708) to stamp the sentiment chosen from the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set (148726). It should fit in the “open space”. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach over the Basic Black layer. I use liquid glue for this because it fills in the embossed areas and “grabs on” to hold tight!

Now it’s time for the “focal point” squares…

Cut 4 pieces of Basic Black Cardstock @ 1-1/4″ x 1-1/4″. Cut 4 pieces of True Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) (154281) @ 1″ x 1″. Attach the DSP to the Basic Black Cardstock with your adhesive of choice. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach these squares in the “diamond” orientation. For your card, you can add them however it’s easiest and most pleasing for you.

Embellishments – Yes? or No?

For this card, I decided not to add any embellishments. You can always add a few sequins or rhinestones if you like! To see more Black & White Cards click here and click here.
