The Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine is an awesome tool!  It can be used with dies or embossing folders to easily cut shapes and add texture to your projects.

Happy Thanksgiving with Stitched Triangles

The Stitched Triangles are awesome dies for making layers and, when combined with the Word Wishes Dies, I managed to create another card with no stamping required! During these COVID days, I need this type of card to make kits for my Monthly Card Club.

Dimensions and cutting instructions:

  1. Cut Whisper White card stock at 11″ x 4-1/4″, score at 5-1/2″, fold and burnish with a bone folder.
  2. Cut Mossy Meadow card stock at 5-1/4″ x 4″, attach to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  3. Use Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Stitched Triangle Dies to cut out Isosceles Triangle from Whisper White card stock, attach over Mossy Meadow layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  4. Use Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the next smaller size of the Stitched Triangle Dies to cut out Isosceles Triangle from World of Good Designer Series Paper (DSP), attach over Whisper White Triangle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  5. Embellish with Gold Glimmer Enamel Dots.
  6. Decide on words from Word Wishes Dies, cut a piece of Whisper White card stock and a piece of Adhesive Sheet big enough to cut the words out. Peel backing off Adhesive Sheet, attach to the back of the Whisper White card stock.
  7. Use Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Word Wishes Dies to cut out words from Whisper White card stock, attach over the Mossy Meadow layer by peeling off the adhesive sheet covering.
Thanks to Sara Levin for sharing this image showing the sizes of the Stitched Triangles!

Water Painters with Ink Refills

Ink refills are a great source of colour when you want to make a background layer for your card design. This time I applied Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, and Bermuda Bay with a Water Painter for a bright, swirly layer.

Here are the products used:

If you want to order, click on the image or the description and you’ll be directed to my online store!

Here are the instructions and dimensions for this card:

  • Cut Very Vanilla Cardstock at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, score at 4-1/4″, fold and burnish with Bone Folder.
  • Cut Granny Apple Green Cardstock at 5-1/4″ x 4″ – Use Stampin’ Seal to attach to the card base.
  • To colour the background layer:
    • Squeeze a few drops of each colour of ink from the refill bottles on the lid of the same colour stamp pad or on a clear glass block.
    • Using the mid-sized Water Painter, squeeze & spread a small amount of water on the Watercolour Paper.
    • Now that the Painter is wet, dip it in the ink and place it where you want it on the Watercolour Paper. The ink will run some because the paper is wet and the ink & Painter are wet.
    • Once your layer has enough of the colours, set it aside to dry. This process can be helped by using a Heat Tool from the backside of the Watercolour Paper.
  • Cut the dry coloured background layer at 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ – attach to Granny Apple Green layer with Stampin’ Seal.
  • Use Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink to stamp the greeting from the Touched by Heart stamp set on Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Use an Ornate Layer Die and the Big Shot to cut out the greeting – attach to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Beautiful Butterflies in Night of Navy & Silver

Beautiful Butterflies in Night of Navy & Silver

These beautiful butterflies in Night of Navy and Silver will make any creation sparkle!  The thinlits come in 2 different designs that complement each other and are so easy to match up. You can cut them in any coordinating colours and then that’s all you’d need.  Or you can add background images like I did on this card to give them a place to fly!  I love how the reversible ribbon ties the variety of butterflies all together.

Details of how this card was made:

  1. Cut Balmy Blue Cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2” – Fold in 1/2 to create standard card size of 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″.
  2. Cut Whisper White Cardstock at 5-1/4″ x 4″.  Use the largest Rectangle Stitched Framelit with the Big Shot to get a design around the edge.
  3. Use Balmy Blue Classic Ink, Granny Apple Green Classic Ink and Night of Navy Classic Ink to stamp background images.  Attach to the card base with Snail Adhesive.
  4. Cut a length of Reversible Ribbon – attach with Mini Glue Dots over the Whisper White Cardstock layer.
  5. Cut Night of Navy Cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ – cut a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet at 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″. Peel off the first side of cover paper and attach the adhesive to the back side of the Night of Navy layer. Use the background butterfly thinlit die and the Big Shot to cut out a group of butterflies.
  6. Cut Silver Foil Cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ – cut a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet at 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″. Peel off the first side of cover paper and attach the adhesive to the back side of the Silver Foil layer.use the foreground butterfly thinlit die and the Big Shot to cut out a group of butterflies.
  7. Peel off the second side of the cover paper and attach the layer of butterflies over the Night of Navy layer.
  8. Peel off the second side of the cover paper from the Night of Navy layer and attach over the reversible ribbon.
