Got DSP? Quickly Make these Masculine Cards!

Masculine birthday cards

I’m often asked for ideas to make masculine cards. Recently I discovered this design, pulled out my World of Good Designer Series Paper and got to work! I was surprised at how quickly I was able to complete these 6 cards and get them into my “Birthday Box”!!

Let’s start with cardstock…

Choose a coordinating cardstock for the base and background layers. It’s easy to pick this layer because when you look on the back of the DSP package, you’ll find a list of the colours that Stampin’ Up! used in the Designer Series Papers. Now you’re set!

Start by cutting the cardstock for the card base at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score at 4-1/4″, fold and burnish with the bone folder. For the other layers, cut 1 at 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ and 1 at 4″ x 2-3/4″. I also punched out a scalloped oval, using the Double Oval Punch (154242) to coordinate with the card base on each card. This will be the background layer for the greeting.

Pick your favourite DSP…

Cut 1 at 5-1/4″ x 4″, 1 at 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ and 1 at 3-3/4″ x 2-1/2″. To save DSP, you could cut all 3 layers from the same piece by cutting both smaller rectangles from the centre of the largest piece.
Cut 1 at 6″ x 2-1/4″ to decorate your envelope flap.

Greetings are needed…

Everyone has a birthday so I’ve used “Happy Birthday” from the Oval Occasions Stamp Set (154477) with the Classic Ink that coordinates with the cardstock. Use the Double Oval Punch (154242) to punch out the greeting – attach to the scallop oval with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Putting it all together…

Fold and score the 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card base
Attach the DSP cut at 5-1/4″ x 4″
Attach the DSP cut at 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ to the cardstock cut at 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ – use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach to the card front
Attach the DSP cut at 3-3/4″ x 2-1/2″ to the cardstock cut at 4″ x 2-3/4″ – use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach to the card front
Attach the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals
